About Katie Thomas

Katie co-founded KTM Design in Bournemouth in 2015 while completing her master’s in Interior Architecture at Arts University Bournemouth. When England footballer Tyrone Mings spotted her work, a partnership was formed, and at just 22, Katie jumped into the world of business, learning as she went. Since then, she and the team have built a reputation for creating award-winning spaces that blend creativity, functionality, and style.

Recognised for her impact on the industry, Katie was appointed South West Regional Director for the SBID (Society of British and International Interior Design). Alongside leading KTM Design, she is also an interior design lecturer at Arts University Bournemouth, where she runs evening courses and has curated multiple programmes to inspire and educate aspiring designers.

Katie has a particular passion for wellness-focused spaces, ensuring that every project—regardless of sector—prioritises the wellbeing of those who experience it. While she loves creating natural and calming environments, her adaptability allows her to design across a range of styles, always tailoring her work to the unique needs of each brief. She is also a sought-after speaker at design shows and industry events.

KTM Design welcomes enquiries from clients across Bournemouth, Dorset, London, and beyond, working with both national and international brands.

Outside of design, business, and teaching, Katie’s passions include dance, fitness, surfing, travel and outdoor adventures.

KTM Design are proud to support Diverse City and sponsored their tour ‘Becoming’.

Katie Thomas previously worked with Diverse City and Extraordinary Bodies Young Artists on a performance set design project. Katie designed and managed the build of the set, ensuring it was suitable for disabled and non-disabled performers. The set was designed in a modular fashion to ensure it could be taken down and reassembled elsewhere.

They are an extraordinary company of disabled and non-disabled young performers. Their latest show 'Becoming' is about identity and the reality of growing up. They tell the stories of how it feels to be them, the story of their journeys, how they started and who they are becoming...it is the stories that they want to tell.

Many young people never get the chance to explore their talent or to find an audience, so Diverse City's company Extraordinary Bodies Young Artists are changing all that. They bring together disabled and non disabled young people to learn together and make shows that change how people think about them.
