Interior Design Process
Here we’ve highlighted the key stages typically involved with a KTM Design project (these stages are designed around RIBA’s Plan of Work, the UK model for building and construction processes), so you know what to expect should you choose to work with us. Please bear in mind that depending on the scale of your project, this process could look different.
Step 1:
Design brief
Firstly, we’ll discuss your interior design project and what you hope to achieve from your new space. We’ll also determine goals, the timescale we have to complete the project and what your budget is.
Step 2:
Concept design
Our team will use their experience and creative eyes to explore various design styles and finishes as we develop the floor plan and spatial layout. We’ll start creating early 3D models and visuals of the area including furniture, fabrics and lighting ideas.
Step 3:
Design development
At this stage we’ll begin to refine the interior layout, materials and finishes along with establishing lighting concepts and specifying mechanical and electrical (M&E) requirements.
Step 4:
Technical design
We’ll create a detailed construction pack with finishing schedules, furniture and fixtures and equipment specifications (FF&E). Any sanitary, joinery and electrical requirements will also be considered.
Step 5:
Construction
Once the contractors have been appointed, construction will begin. We’ll work closely with the contractors and FF&E supplies team throughout the process to make sure that the work is carried out to a high standard and we’ll advise them on any specialist subcontractors should they be required.
Step 6:
Handover and closeout
Finally, we’ll visit the site to determine if any further work is needed to ensure that the brief is met. Once ourselves and the client are happy with the end result, we’ll handover and the project will draw to an end.
