Modern interior designers
We are KTM Design, a team of professional modern interior designers who specialise in creating inviting modern spaces.
Modern interior design is a style which encapsulates the aesthetic movement which began in the late 19th century. A modern room will typically have minimal decor to offer a more contemporary style, natural light and monochromatic colours (colours of a single hue) with a play on shades and textures. We’ve worked on modern interior design projects in Bournemouth, London and beyond, so, if you’re looking to modernise a space, we can help.
From our initial meeting to discuss your modern interior design project through to construction and handover, we’ll work closely with you to ensure we not only meet your expectations, we exceed them.

Modern Interior Design Process
Step 1:
Design brief
We’ll meet with you to discuss your project and visit the site to see how the space currently comes together so we can start to consider how we can transform the rooms.
Step 2:
Concept design
Following the brief, we’ll create an initial design plan which will include 3D models, floorplans, fabrics and furniture.
Step 3:
Design development
Once you’re happy with the design, we’ll start refining the interior layouts whilst considering economic, environmental and construction needs.
Step 4:
Technical design
We’ll put together a fully-detailed technical construction pack with finish schedules and FF&E specifications.
Step 5:
Construction
Construction begins. We’ll be working closely with the contractors throughout this stage to ensure that the work being carried out is in line with the agreed design plan.
Step 6:
Handover and closeout
Following construction, we'll visit the site and decide whether any further work will be required to ensure the space meets the needs of the client and fulfils the brief. The project won’t come to a close until both ourselves and the client is satisfied with the end result.

Modern interior designers FAQ
How to design a modern house interior
When designing a modern interior, you want to remain minimalist, whilst ensuring that you’re also putting your individual stamp on each room. You should consider the following aspects:
Modern art and decor - a modern interior design will be fairly simplistic, so you won’t need too much decor, however, you may want to choose a few stand-out pieces which are abstract and expressive.
The colour palette - a modern space will usually embrace neutral colours, such as white or grey shades.
Clean, straight lines - you can consider many aspects of your house, such as windows, room fittings and furniture.
Industrial elements to reflect the period modernism grew in - this could be the inclusion of materials such as glass and steel.
Room layout - many modern house interiors tend to feature an open plan, which offers more freedom of space.
Lighting - modern interiors typically embrace natural light, so large windows are perfect for this style!
What is modern interior design?
Modern interior design is a style known for its simplicity, freedom of space (and open floor plans), neutral colours and clean, straight lines. Typically, there is minimal decor in a modern space and it’s important for the room to be functional. Modern interior design will often get confused with contemporary interior design - a style which reflects popular trends and futuristic elements.
