Salon Interior Design Process

Step 1:

Design brief

Firstly, we’ll conduct a site visit to get a better idea of how the space comes together and what could be done to transform the area into both a practical workspace for yourself, and a comfortable, attractive salon which customers can enjoy.

Step 2:

Concept design

We’ll take information from the brief to create an initial design plan, which will include 3D models, floorplans, fabrics and furniture.

Step 3:

Design development

We then refine the interior layouts and consider economic, environmental and construction needs.

Step 4:

Technical design

At this stage we then put together a fully-detailed technical construction pack, finishing schedules and FF&E specifications for the salon.

Step 5:

Construction

Construction work begins. We work closely with the hired contractors to ensure that the work being completed is in line with the design plan.

Step 6:

Handover and closeout

Once construction has finished, we’ll carry out final inspections to ensure that both ourselves and the client are happy with the new salon space. If no further work needs to be done, the project will come to a close.

Salon interior design FAQ

How to design a salon

There are many components to consider when designing your salon space, including:

Lighting - the choice of lighting in your salon can have a real impact on the feel of the room. Natural light is great for hairdressing salons and barbers as it gives customers a better idea of how their hair looks. That said, not every space will have large windows to take advantage of; in this case, warm lights that are more flattering are a great option as it will help your clients to feel good. For spa salons, dim lighting is perfect for creating a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere.

How you can maximise space - choosing the right furniture and storage space will help to open the room up and give you more space to move around.

Sticking to a theme - everything from signage to furniture should fit within your salon’s theme. Whether it’s modern and stylish or classic and traditional, you should stick to your aesthetic once you’ve picked it.

How to showcase your products

Salon’s will typically sell products, whether that be beauty or hair related, and you want your customers to be able to see them! It’s good to consider shelving and innovative ways to entice customers to buy your products and increase your revenue.

There are many more aspects of a salon to consider to ensure it has a competitive edge and keeps customers coming back for more! Here at KTM Design, we offer a full salon interior design service and can help you to achieve your dream space. Get in touch with us today to discuss your project.
